First I want to direct you to a link that describes the Lidcombe program for early childhood stuttering:

This is a basic description of what the Lidcombe program is.  I have been lucky enough to help children from near and far. Recently I treated a 4 year old girl whose native language is Russian.  They came from a distance of approximately 90 minutes.  Her mother stutters and of course was very worried about her.  After 14 weeks, she has gradually significantly reduced her stuttering.  We are putting her on a maintenance program and hoping that fluency stays.  What a great relief to see this little girl not struggling and her mom smiling with joy.
