This article had been sent to me. It is about a man who stutters. I appreciate his honesty. There are so many things I can write about. First, let me say if someone offered me a magic pill to not stutter anymore, I would take it. I have no need to stutter at this point in my life. I am a successful speech pathologist. I also have a wonderful husband, two beautiful daughters and many friends.  I accept the fact that I stutter, but don’t like it. I accept the fact that I need strategies to be more fluent.

However, I can relate to this writer because when I was young, I had many speech pathologists who knew very little about stuttering.  This can be very harmful at a young age.

This article explains to me even more why so many adults are hesitant to get help.  It is ok to want to be more fluent. Some people feel proud to stutter. Honestly, I am not one of those people.

I am proud that I can speak most of the time free of struggle. I am proud that I don’t walk around fearful.  I am proud that I can help so many people.

If you stutter, please seek help. If you don’t find success initially, keep trying.  You will find the right person if you keep looking.
